There are two ways of inserting cells into a worksheet: you can either insert entire rows or columns or you can insert individual cells. When inserting entire rows or columns, the number of rows or columns that you highlight will correspond to the number inserted.

For example, let's say that we want to insert a header at the top of a worksheet we might want to insert two blank rows. To do this, we would highlight the first two rows of the worksheet by clicking and dragging across the appropriate numbers of the rows. Having selected the rows above which you want the new cells to be inserted, you can then do one of two things. Firstly, in the Home Tab of the Excel ribbon, you can move across to the Cells section and choose Insert and then Insert Sheet Rows. Alternatively, you can right-click on the row number of one of the highlighted rows and choose Insert from the context menu.

When inserting rows or columns, it may seem logical that the format of the newly inserted cells will match that of the cells that were highlighted when the new row or column is inserted. However, in fact, Excel copies the format from the cells above, in the case of rows, and the cells to the left, in the case of columns.

The right-click method of inserting rows or columns is normally faster. However, the slower method has one benefit: you don't have to highlight the number of rows or columns you wish to insert. Even if you highlight a single cell, you can still use the insert button and choose Insert Sheet Columns or Insert Sheet Rows.

Excel offers yet another way of inserting cells: right-click on a cell and to choose Insert. To insert an entire column or row, just select the appropriate option from the dialog box which appears then click OK.

Naturally, all of the above techniques also apply to deleting rows or columns. For example, let's say we have three cells highlighted, spanning three columns; we can move across to the Cells section of the Home Tab of the Excel ribbon, click on the Delete button and choose Delete Sheet Columns. This command will delete not just the selected cells but the entire columns that they form part of. In a similar way, when choosing a font, you can highlight the current name and begin to type the name of font you have in mind, for example Times new Roman. Once you have typed enough to avoid ambiguity, the font name will be displayed and you simply press the Enter key.

Colour can be similarly be applied in two ways in your worksheets either as a background to the cell or to the text inside the cell. Because background colour applies to the cell it cannot be applied at the text level. To work at the text level, you need to go into Edit mode. The alignment section of the Home Tab of the Excel ribbon contains a number of options relating to the way in which your data is position within the cell. Perhaps the most familiar and the most frequently used buttons in this section are the three relating to the horizontal position your data: left, centre and right. However you'll notice that when you click in the cells of an unformatted worksheet, none of these three icons is highlighted, which indicates that none of them is the default. The reason for this is that Excel treats data differently depending on the data type.

If you type text in a cell, your text is aligned on the left; if you type a number, the number is aligned on the right; if you type a date, it is also aligned on the right. To change the horizontal alignment, either select a range of cells or click on a column letter to highlight the entire column then click on one of the alignment icons.

Haven chosen one type of horizontal alignment, you can change it in two ways. You can either choose a different alignment or you can click again on the already selected alignment to deactivate it. For example, if your text is right-aligned and you click on the Right-align button a second time, this will deactivate right alignment and return you to the default alignment which, for text, is left-aligned. So, in fact, Excel has four types of horizontal alignment: left, centre, right and unspecified (or default), which is the alignment that applies when none of the alignment buttons is highlighted.

Microsoft Excel also allows you to specify the vertical alignment of your text. This setting becomes apparent when you increase the height of the cell and there is a definite default; text is normally aligned at the bottom of the cell. This default vertical alignment applies to text, dates and numbers alike.

To change vertical alignment, either make a selection or click on the row number to select the entire row then click on one of the buttons to make the change: align middle, align top and so forth.

The alignment option also includes the ability to change the orientation of text within the cell. This is particularly useful in those situations where the headings are wider than the data within the cells. To change the vertical orientation of your text, you simply select the cells in question and then choose the appropriate orientation in the Alignment dialogue.

Having changed the orientation of the headings, you can probably make the columns much narrower. Excel offers a very useful way of doing this: simply select all the columns that contain data then in the Cell group of the Home Tab of the Excel Ribbon, choose Format and then AutoFit Columns. This option makes each of the highlighted columns no wider than it needs to be to display all the data it contains. - 20764

Most Excel users have encountered the SUM function. It is one of the most widely used functions within the program. And most Excel users will also have used the IF function at some stage. The SUMIF function is really just a combination of SUM and If which allows us to calculate the total of all cells within a given range that match a certain condition.

For example, let's say that we have a "Sales" worksheet containing a breakdown of the sales of each individual salesperson. We then want to create a summary of these figures in a "Branches" worksheet where we want to create a total sales figure for each branch; so our "Branches" worksheet would have two columns: "Branch" and "Total Sales". We can use the SUMIF function to work out the figures in the "Total Sales" column.

A good place to begin would be to create named cells so that we can refer to these names in our formula. To name a range of cells we begin by selecting the range then we click on the name box in the top left of the worksheet, enter the name then press the Enter key.

Having inserted the names of all the branches in the first column of our "Branches" worksheet, we would highlight the first cell in the "Total Sales" column, adjacent to the cell containing the name of our first branch; let's say, for example, our first branch is "Birmingham". When using functions for the first time, it's useful to use Excel's Insert Function facility. To access this, click on the Insert Function button on left of the formula bar. The second argument is the criteria that we want to match within the range specified in the first argument. This will be simply the contents of the cell in the adjacent "Branch" column, which in this case contains "Birmingham". We can click on the cell to grab the reference.

The final argument is the SUM range; the column that contains the cells that we want to actually total; namely, the sales figures. Again, if we have named this column, we would click on "Use In Formula" and choose the name. Once we have specified the three arguments, we click OK and Excel creates the formula.

It's now safe to copy the formula down. The cell reference of the adjacent column containing the branch name will change but the two named ranges will remain the same. To copy the formula down, simply position the cursor on the AutoFill handle in the bottom right of the cell and then either drag or simply double-click. - 20764

This module really gets into the nitty gritty of Cisco Switching and thus requires some of the higher end, more expensive switches that are capable of Layer 3 switching. Additionally in a perfect scenario, you will need multiple of these Cisco switches to complete your labs and really get the full experience of the topics. Next we have ISCW(Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks) which covers how to expand your current enterprise network to remote sites and teleworkers with a focus on configuring VPN client access and securing the remote access methods. So what does that mean to you? 2500 routers and the normal 2600 routers cannot support 12.4. So if you have the budget, jump right to the 3640 or 2600XM series routers for your CCNP lab. They are the two most economical routers that will support 12.4. The 3640 is a modular router that comes with no built-in Ethernet or serial ports, but has 4 network module slots you can put various Ethernet, Serial and Voice cards into. The 2600XM series has one open network module slot and two WIC slots. The nice thing about the 2600XM series is that it has a built-in 100mb Ethernet port!

What Can I Do With My Old 2500 or non-XM 2600 routers? Even though Cisco states that the new CCNP exams are based on 12.4, that does not mean that you have to throw out all of your 2500 and/or non-XM 2600 routers and start from scratch. We can incorporate them into your new CCNP lab environment. However you must realize that you may not be able to see every feature work on each router since some of you routers may be running 12.3 and other 12.4. The old saying that you get what you pay for is applicable in this situation. The larger your budget is, the more features you will get. It is just like buying a car. The more money you have, the more bells and whistles you get.

Why Do Your Kits Mostly Have 3640s and 2600XM Routers? We have included the 3640 routers are they are the most economical way to build out your 12.4 lab supporting IPv6 and SDM. To support IPv6 and SDM you must have 128/32 on each of these routers. Since these are the two waves of the future and they are on the tests, you should be able to perform labs incorporating each.

How Many Routers Do I Need? Another great question! The more the better! Actually, we need to make it complex enough that we can see routes propagate, DHCP relay agents working, load balancing, route summarization, different OSPF stub types, Frame-Relay, IS-IS Intra-Area vs Inter-Area addressing, multi-casting, BGP groups and IPv6 on a dual-stack router. Wow, that was a mouthful! So more than two or three routers is a safe assumption to build your CCNP lab. We like to see about 8 routers in your lab. You can see the available CCNP labs we offer to review the specific Cisco models. Our Premium kit will match our lab courseware very well. The Standard and Economy kits will match closely and you will be able to comprehend most of the concepts by running the commands on the equipment you have even though it may not exactly match up to the labs you will be performing. So no need to bounce the traffic out of the switch, to a router only to have it sent right back to the same switch because the destination is on a different subnet. These switches will route that traffic within the switch and save precious bandwidth and time! We find that in a perfect world, you will have two of these switches, but you can get by with one. This way you can see how they communicate, trunk together and such.

Can You Give Me A General Idea Of The Lab Environment? That will slightly change as per the kit you purchase. However in following the labs you will for the most part have a frame relay switch interconnecting four different areas in which summarizations can happen. What Is A Terminal Server Router And Why Do I Want One? A very nice to have is a 2509 or 2511 access/terminal server router. This way you do not have to keep moving the console cable from router to router as you are configuring them. You can access all your routers and switches via the terminal server and connected octal cable. This is not going to function in your lab, but it is nice to have to make your lab much easier to use.

If you already have your Cisco CCNA certification, the above should have made a lot of sense to you. Also congratulations on your CCNA! You should have a very good grasp on the different features of the various Cisco routers and Cisco switches. Now you will just need to know what Cisco routers and Cisco switches you need to purchase to build your Cisco CCNP lab.

Think about the words Motorcycle Club! Why is it that when those words are heard together many think Crime or Criminal Organization? Say you are having an event and you are looking for a place to have it. You can have a book club and everyone will welcome you in! A cooking club and everyone really loves you. You say Motorcycle Club and right away its, Sorry we are busy on that day!

Motorcycle Clubs are even turned away from bars where they want to have events by Independent Bikers,Why is that? We need to let the world know that Bikers independent or in a Motorcycle Club can be good people! We can not show people that Motorcycle Club Members are not all bad if we are not allowed in a Bar because we are wearing Colors, Its the same thing if you are an independent biker and some one will not let you in some sports bar because you are wearing a leather jacket! I hope when an independent Biker who has turned away Motorcycle Clubs from his bar and is then turned away from a bar he wants to go in Understands the irony!

Some Motorcycle Clubs have even gone so far as to changed their name, they call themselves Riding Clubs,Motorcycle associations or some other type of group so they can leave out the words Motorcycle Club! and try to avoid the problems that come with being part of a Motorcycle Club! They say they are different from a Motorcycle Club ! They look and dress and act just like a motorcycle Club but they just call themselves something different! I say a rose by any other name !!!

These Clubs are just trying to get around all the prejudice associated with the words Motorcycle Club ! They are not part of the solution but are part of the problem! This is America and You can call your Club what ever you want, But the thing that unites you and your Club is the same thing that unites all who Ride! It is the Motorcycle! How can anyone leave out the word Motorcycle? It is the heart of what you are!

If You are a Motorcycle Club be proud of it and don't try to get around any problems by playing word games and calling yourself something else by using different words!!!
